30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 14

Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.

I could make this post about a lot of people, and almost all of them are family, but I'm choosing to make it about my Aunt Renee and my cousin, Annah.

Annah and I absolutely HATED each other about 95% of the time growing up. She hated me because I had my mom for a mother - or as she said, HER Aunt Kay - and I resented her for having MY Aunt Renee as a mom. During the 5% of the time when we weren't having screaming matches with each other or trying to manipulate our moms into saying which one of us they loved the most, we were really close. In fact, one of my fondest memories of my childhood is having a slumber party at her old house and watching the Sailor Moon movie all night long.

My Aunt Renee has always been my hero; I can't describe why, but suffice it to say that she's always just been one of my favorite people for no one reason that I can pinpoint. The only thing I can remotely say that comes close enough to what I feel for her is that I love her.

On April 20th of last year, I came very close to losing both of them in a horrible car crash. They were hit by a semi while they were trying to turn left and they both almost died. Annah fractured her pelvis in multiple places, broke almost every bone in one of her feet, had bleeds on her brain and liver...the list goes on, as she took the brunt of the impact. She's perfectly fine now, amazingly. Renee had trouble with her heart after the crash but is now doing fine as well.

There were so many "coincidences" that were involved in their crash that it's hard to believe. (Ie: one of the police officers said that one of the wheels on the SUV shouldn't have still been attached to the car and that it was a miracle it still was because if it had separated from the car, the car would have sank lower to the ground and the semi would pretty much have drove over them.) I thank God every day for keeping them safe.

It just hit me that day how much I would miss them if, God forbid, something ever did happen to them. I absolutely cannot imagine my life without either of them and I'm actually tearing up just thinking about it to write this.

If you guys read this, I love you both. <3

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist.

Love me some Goo Goo Dolls.

The Cab can always turn my frown upside down.

And I will forever love B. Spears.

And that folks, is just the tip of the ice burg. I love music and it was hard to just pick three artists/bands to showcase.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 11

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate.

(Google image.)

I realllllly, really, REALLY, hate tornadoes. I think I was scarred for life when my parents took me to see Twister when it came out (I was like 6 or 7) and it was storming so bad that the power went off in the theater a couple times - so scary! But it got worse: we barely made it home, we were in my great-grandpa's old SUV and I remember my mom had to keep wiping the inside of the windshield so my dad could see. The rain was so heavy that when we finally got home, the moment we stepped out of the car we were drenched. Yup, I think that traumatic little event is what struck the fear of tornadoes in me. Ha.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 10

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most messed up things with.

My friend Khrista, hands down. 95% of the "messed" (the original word used for this day is a *bit* less appropriate) up things I've done have been with her. She's been my partner in crime since we met in 7th grade.

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 8

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

This photo was taken of our dog, Lexi, for my mom's art project - she's working towards her Master's degree. Every time I see it, and I see it a lot because it's the background image of my nook, it makes me chuckle. She just sat there like a champ while we took picture after picture after picture. I love her.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 7

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

I don't really have one treasured item but if I had to pick something, I'd choose all the old photos and home movies we have laying around our house. They're the first things I'd save in a fire other than my family and our pets, so that has to mean something - right?

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 6

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

Kate Middleton is the only person who sprang to mind for this post. Who doesn't want to be a Princess for a day? Plus, Prince William is kind of a hottie.

Yes, I know I'm behind in posting this. I'm a crap blogger.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 4

Day 04 - A picture of your night.

I didn't actually take a picture of my night so here are some Google images that will have to suffice.

Movies on Netflix, nachos, and Halls strawberry cough drops. If you can't tell from that unusual combo, I'm sick tonight and stayed in.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 2

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for awhile.

Jenny and I posing with my Uncle's "pimp cup" in the summer of '07.

This is Jenny. She's been my best friend since the very first day of our Freshman year in 2004. We were both new kids at our high school and quickly banded together since we shared every class except for one, she took Spanish while I took French. I've spent some of the best and worst nights of my life with this girl and while we've had our ups and downs as friends, nothing has been able to tear us apart. She currently lives in VA and just gave birth to her daughter, Audrey, and I can't wait to go down there in 16 days(!) to see her and meet my goddaughter for the first time.

Long time, no blog!

It's been exactly two months since my last post (yikes!) and sadly, there will be no super awesome post today - just an explanation for why I've been gone. December was a rough month; I was busy with my new job and then, on the 28th, my grandmother passed away. It was a huge shock to all of us, even though she'd been sick for almost four years. January wasn't much better, either; it was hard just to do normal things for a while and then once I did, I just wanted to drown myself in work and books. So, needless to say, I haven't really been in a mood to blog and even if I had, I haven't had the time because of work.

Anyway, when I finally get around to book blogging you'll have tons of reviews to look forward to. (Including Across the UniverseIf I StayBefore I FallRevolutionThe Hunger Games series and many more.) To get myself back into the swing of blogging I'm going to start doing a cute little challenge I've seen floating around on Facebook! It, admittedly, doesn't have much to do with book blogging but oh well, I just need to get back into the swing of posting.

Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss.

So, here's the picture and 15 facts for tonight's post:

1: My name is Chanel and that ^ is me.
2: I have five sisters and one brother; I'm the middle child of 7. My older siblings and I are only half siblings while my younger siblings were adopted when I was 16.
3: I'm an English major in college but I'm currently taking a quarter (or more) off from school to decide if that's really what I want.
4: I love animals! Penguins are my favorite and I've seriously contemplated breaking into the zoo and bringing one home with me.
5: I'm having a hard time figuring out what to say about myself.
6: My graduating class consisted of 10 boys and 4 girls, including myself. I hated high school while I was going through it but now that I'm a few years older I really miss it. I realize now that it was one of the best times of my life, just like people said it would be.
7: I want to travel the world.
8: I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis three months before I turned 18.
9: I love board games, card games, etc.
10: I live in the middle of nowhere aka a small town in Ohio. I long to live in a big city but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't last a day in one if I moved there.
11: I recently discovered that I have Celiac disease, which is an intolerance/allergy to gluten. Gluten is wheat and it's derivatives. I've been (mostly) gluten free for a couple months. It's hard but I feel SO much better since I've eliminated it from my diet.
12: I converted to a Macbook from an HP in January of '09 and I love it. I'm now a firm believer that once you go Mac, you'll never go back. ;-)
13: I've had a bit of an obsession with vampires since I was a little kid. My mom does too, so it must be genetic haha.
14: I drive a 2008 VW Bug convertible. Her name is Lola and she's beautiful.
15: My family means the world to me. This should probably be higher up on the list because they are, literally, the most important things in my life but I'm too lazy to change it. :-)

There we go! My first post in two months which will, hopefully, get me back into the swing of things!
